Summary: Personal papers of William Liggett, Sr. including two folders of newspaper clippings about border activities during 1916-1917, the time of the Mexican Revolution. One clipping contains biographical information on Liggett. The collection is noteworthy for the draft, two- hundred page, manuscript written by Liggett consisting of a biographical essay on events and activities on the border over a period of 70 years. The manuscript features Southwestern locations such as Bisbee, Naco, and Cananea, Sonora Mexico. It was published in 1964 as My Seventy-Five Years Along the Mexican Border.

Biographical note: William Liggett was born Jan. 7, 1882 at the Vulture Mines near Wickenburg Arizona. Shortly after his family moved to Bisbee passing through Phoenix and Tombstone. Liggett and his father went into the transportation business at Naco, AZ They made regular trips between Naco, Arizona and Cananea, Sonora moving mail, passengers, and cargo between the locations. With the arrival of the railroad, Liggett moved to Cananea and provided a baggage contract with the railroad. In 1906, h...
